SENTENCE

We know that language is more than just words. For
example, car, park, buy, ticket, plane, go etc. arc English
words. But if we do not arrange them in a meaningful way they
will not give sentences. If we say. buy-ticket-plane, it will not
be a sentence, but if we say. Buy me a plane ticket, it will be
considered as a sentence.....more



SUBJECT - VERB AGREEMENT

The verb must agree with the subject. Singular subject
demands singular verb and plural subject demands plural verb.
The following sentences arc given to show how this agreement
works:
1. She and her friend* are at the fair, (and connects the
subjects, makes them plural, and the plural verb arc is used J
2. The book or the pen is in the drawer, (or unlike and

TRANSFORMATION


Transformation means to change the sentence structure from
one from to another without changing the meaning. There arc

A phrase is a group of words which, having no subject or finite

A Clause is constituted by a group or words that contain a
subject and a finite verb,

Nouns refer to people, animals, places, things, or ideas In any
language, nouns arc the most important part of speech. Any

VERB

Be verbs: Every English sentence has a subject and a verb. The
Subject is a noun or a pronoun. And the verb be has three
present tense forms am, is. arc, two past tense forms; was,
were. In the perfect tense have been and has been, and in the
modal sense will be. would he, shall be, should be. could be.

ADJECTIVE

Adjectives describe nouns.
In the two sentence below the bold words are adjectives.
a. It is a small dog with a red collar.
b. They are small dogs with red collars.
As adjectives make a description attractive, students show a
tendency of using more adjectives than necessary ....more




ARTICLES  
   A,      AN,    and      THE
A or an is used with a singular countable noun, and the is used
both for singular countable nouns und plural nouns. A goes
before a noun with a consonant sound and an goes before a
noun with a vowel sound
